Update on Landon

I just changed the bandage for the day and it finally looks like the burn is healing after a whole week! He tries to use his hand to play which is difficult with bandages on, but other than that he seems fine. I think I'm more scarred by the event than he is! Each day, I have to soak it, put the burn cream on and then wrap it in new bandages. It's not an easy process with an active baby! Weston and Logan have been a big help with it.

A Trip to the ER

Not too long after I posted the other day, Landon ended up on the ER. It was not my best moment!

The heating vent in our living room is broken so I've been using a big space heater for the last month. I have been super careful in keeping on only when I can supervise Landon. I had forgotten that I turned it on after having it off while Leean and Titus were here. I was cleaning out my fridge and all of a sudden I hear Landon crying loudly . I thought he must've gotten stuck somewhere. When I saw his little arm stuck in that heater I panicked. I had never felt that kind of panic in my life ever before with any of my kids. I was out of control because I didn't even know how to get to the hospital and Landon screamed with pain. I was seriously hysterical. Running around the house trying to figure out how to treat his burn. I ran it under cold water for a bit, but he was screaming so hard. I wrapped a cold rag around it and that calmed him down a bit. Finally, I called Robyn to see what I should do. She didn't answer so I called my sister, she didn't answer either. I called Robyn again and she picked up and I just lost it. She put Rob on the phone and he had to pretty much tell me what to do. I barely remember that conversation. I felt like the worst mother in the entire universe. I hate space heaters and I had been so careful with having this on. Landon had just recently started to roll so I have not gotten used to his mobility.

We met Rob and he drove the rest of the way on the icy roads to the hospital. Rob took Weston & Landon home with him and Robyn stayed with me. We got in right away and they bandaged him up.

I took him to the Dr. yesterday. He looked over the burns and removed any skin that needed to be taken off. They put new bandages on it and gave him a prescription for a special burn cream.

Now I get to put new bandages on it every day. Robyn helped me today since he's super squirmy. It should be interesting tomorrow!

He doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all. I'm sure that's the Motrin! It'll take a couple of weeks to heal and I'm sure there will be some scars. He was burned on the top of his hand, down the side of his arm and on a few fingers. I believe it's 2nd degree burn. It looks horrible. It seems to be healing well though.

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let is Snow!

It started snowing yesterday and we woke up with 2-3 inches of snow on the ground! Rob & Robyn were brave and drove over the icy roads to come play in the snow. We were planning on playing outside for a bit today but I knew that Landon wouldn't last long. I was so glad when Robyn called! Weston and Logan were able to play outside for quite a bit longer with Uncle Rob. Robyn brought her camera, so I am able to post some pics!

After we played in the snow we had some very yummy hot chocolate and then some lunch. It was a great day!

A Chicken!

I think about posting everyday the funny things my kids say and do. I decided to actually do it today because I'm still laughing at this one.

Logan & I were doing his Kidstruction work ( like AWANA, but not). The story was about when Elijah was taken to heaven by God and Elisha took his place. The main lesson of the story was that God's will is good and Elijah followed God's will. The question was "Elisha wanted to be like Elijah. Who do you want to be like?" Logans answer: A Chicken! So, apparently there are some pretty righteous chickens out there that have mentored Logan in such a way that he wants to be like them.

After that, I said "how about a PERSON that you see doing the right thing and you would like to be like them." His answer: "I want to be like Titus!"

Thanksgiving and other things

We spent Wednesday-Sunday visiting with family for the Thanksgiving holiday. The 4 hour drive each way was actually really nice. I LOVE to eat on Thanksgiving. I had 2 plates of food and wanted to go back for more but didn't. I ate a lot of delicious fudge. I don't think I've been full for about 5 months! Nursing a baby does that do ya. We had a great time visiting family that we haven't seen in a few months. The time was too short!

The boys continue to do well in homeschool. Weston is learning faster than I can teach him and Logan is mastering the art of cutting and coloring inside the lines.

Landon is doing ok with the rice cereal. He still hasn't gotten it down totally. The big news with him is that he's rolling! He ends up stuck on his tummy because he forgets that he can keep rolling. So he hasn't really gotten good and rolling and rolling and rolling which I am totally ok with because I am not ready for him to be mobile.

Weston has his first crush. There is a girl at church that has caught his eye. He gets this goofy grin whenever he sees her. She's an older woman of 8 years old. Weston and I were working on his verses one Wednesday before church and he said "Today is the day that I like to see Megan." She's the one he points out every time we go to church. There was a time that we got to church at the same time and Megan said "That's Weston, he likes me." Oh boy, here we go!

Rice Cereal!!!

Landon has entered the world of eating with a spoon. Yippee!!! I realized last week after a couple days and nights of him eating every TWO hours that it was time to give him more food. It's been a couple of days and he's doing pretty good with it. He's still waking up every 2 hours but it'll take him a bit to get going on the cereal. He has never slept through the night, so I am very ready for some sleep. It doesn't help that I stay up until 2 am playing Settlers with Robyn and friends or watching Alias until 12:30 most nights.

Landon will be 5 months old in 10 days. He just moved up to 3-6 month clothes. I had to buy Logan some bigger pants and put away the clothes that don't fit him anymore. I think Weston has grown a foot in the last couple of months and he is in need of shirts. There is a definite trend here.

I'm sorry for the lack of pictures still. Robyn's blog has some you can see. I am planning to buy a camera soon!

Some Exciting News!

I received an email today with some exciting news. The product that I designed for Monday Morning Memories (now owned by MOSD inc) is going to be featured in a popular scrapbooking magazine in February! Check out the Tools & Techniques section of your February 2009 Creating Keepsakes magazine. I will probably purchase the magazine so I can scan the article to blog.

3rd Time's a Charm

So, I've been tagged. And it's the 3rd time so I guess I better actually do it this time. Jenny tagged me from her blog. She wrote 6 things about herself and then chose a few people to blog 6 things about themselves. I have been chosen, so here goes!

I've been trying to come up with 6 things. While reading other people's answers I kept thinking "oh I am like that too!" but now I don't want to say them because I don't want to copy. I'll try to sound interesting even though I'm not.

1. There's nothing like a good book! I started reading at a pretty young age because I'm the youngest of 4 and wanted to do what my brothers and sister were doing. There was awhile in my life where I even wanted to become an author. I wrote several short stories when I was young. Since getting married and having kids, I haven't read as much as I've like. Lately I've made the time to read again. I found an old box of books and am rereading some of my favorites.

2. I am a Plain Jane when it comes to food. If we didn't have to eat to survive, I probably wouldn't do it. I'm not as picky as I was growing up ( I even eat Pot Stickers!), but I still do not like any kind of sauce on my sandwiches or hamburgers. One of the main reasons I hated going to restaraunts as a kid was I didn't like to bother them with my "special order"and felt embarrassed about being so picky. Now I don't care as much.

3. I believe I was born to scrapbook. I wish I made the time to do it more often. I started scrapbooking a bit in high school but didn't have the room for the supplies. After Logan was born, I got back into it again. It is a great outlet for me to combine my favorite hobbies- journaling, photography and art.

4. Those of you who have known me for a long time may laugh at this one. I love organization. Love it. It's the logic of having a place to put something that intrigues me. I believe this is one reason I am messy. Weird right? If I don't have specific place to put everything, it's going to end up in a pile because I don't have THE perfect place for it. I need a drawer for it that can be labled. I've never actually been inside The Container Store, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to get me out of it! If I had enough money to organize my house perfectly, you would think I had an OCD. Ok- stop laughing now.

5. I love collecting clothes and shoes. This is another hobby of mine that I haven't had time or money to catch up on since having kids :). My wardrobe is definitely not what it used to be. Before you think I'm totally vain and tell me that there are people that have to wear the same shirt everyday and that I should be happy to have more than 1 shirt in my closet, that's not what I mean. I don't think it's important to have a lot of clothes, it's just fun. It's another creative outlet for me. Finding the right outfit and feeling pretty in it is a great accomplishment. Or is that just an excuse to buy more clothes? :)

6. Today, I am feeling truly blessed. Lately the Lord has been refining me and my attitude towards the circumstances in my life has changed dramatically.

It seems as though many of you who read my blog have already been tagged. So, I'm tagging all of you that secretly read my blog.

Same Old, Same Old

So, another month has passed in the Molen household.

This passed weekend, we all got the flu. It was not fun at all. First Weston on Friday night, then Logan Saturday evening and me on Saturday night through Sunday. I think we're all still a bit tired from it, but doing well. No one can say we don't share with each other, right?

Church, hanging out with the cousins and friends and school keep us busy most days.

I'm still trying to get settled in. A few weeks ago, I found my box full of diaries. I was reading my first one for a little bit today and it was a crack up! I was 9 years old. One day's entry was about going to stay at a friend's house and taking a whole 8 pictures from the week. I mentioned that next time I hope to get more film, maybe 24 pictures next time. How different the times are now when you can end up with hundreds or thousands of pictures from one single vacation!

School is going very well. It's so fun to see Weston's face light up after reading a new word! He actually just did one as I was typing. I thought it would be a bit challenging with having a baby, but it's not. Landon is usually sleeping or just hanging out on the floor during school.

Landon is 4 months now. Time slips away so fast! No major milestones have happened yet with him. No sleeping through the night or rolling over. He does have the cutest giggle though! Weston and Logan can get a pretty hearty laugh out of him. He's very close to rolling over. I'm in no hurry to have him mobile.

Another month!

Oh goodness. I can't believe another month has gone by since I last posted. I think about blogging all the time, but every time I actually sit down at the computer, I don't know what to say.

I don't have any pictures for you (still saving for that camera), but we are doing well. Getting pretty much settled in. I have a million scrapbooking boxes yet to unpack. Our apartment is only 2 bedrooms and a lot smaller than our house so I have no idea where to put everything.

We started homeschooling this week. Weston is a bit behind because of my pregnancey last year. He's in 1st grade but still needs to finish the Kindergarten stuff. I'm realizing as we do it that I'll be able to skip a lot of the Kindergarten pages and hopefully move on to 1st grade soon. There's a lot of repetition in his books and he catches on quickly. Logan is still doing preschool.

Landon is 3 months old. 3 MONTHS. I don't know where the time goes. He likes playing around on the floor. He hasn't rolled over yet, but he still manages to scoot himself around slowly. He's a happy baby, smiling lots and he is chattering more than ever. He's a mixture of Ronnie and I, but I think he looks more like me as a baby.

Rob & Robyn invite us to go to the track with them and we love it. It's nice to get out and get some exercise. It makes up for the bowl of ice cream we have afterwards, right? Weston had the great idea of taking his Spiderman frisbee last night and the kids had a blast using it. Rob kept telling Titus to throw it and he would drop it in front of himself and pick it up quickly. Clever. He is the ultimate silly 2 year old.

I am enjoying my new designing job. It was a hard decision to sell my business, but a good one. I am free to design and the big decisions get made by other people. Today was my first pay day! Woo hoo! It's hopefully going toward the camera.

My Crazy Life

Sorry it's been over a month since my last post. August was a crazy busy month.

We are starting to get settled here after the move. Yes, we did a really fast move to another state! We now live 10 minutes from Rob & Robyn. And only 5 hours from Jenny and Breanna!!

Landon is 2 months and growing fast. I love his little baby chatter and smiles. He still sleeps a lot.

I turned 31. I was given TWO birthday parties! One in Washington with Shelly and her kids and then here with Rob & Robyn and their kids. Robyn totally surprised me. I knew we were going out to lunch for Red Robin, but then she drove me to Jill's to get my hair cut!!!!! You don't even know how exciting that was for me. Jill is the best! I have missed Jill. She was actually the last one to cut my hair over a year ago. I have been feeling like a frumpy mom, still a lot of baby weight to lose and long hair that I hate. So, now with my hair the way I like it, I don't feel as bad. Getting the weight to come off is the hard part.

I also sold my business and now work for the company that bought Monday Morning Memories. I am their Director of Innovative Design. Which means I will be designing their products. I am really excited about it!

I'll try and get pictures. I am once again without a camera!

Just Hanging Out

These are just daily pictures of the boys. Logan and his "weapons", the boys showing how much taller they are than Landon, helping me clean my office area, going through the "rain" on their bikes.

Visit with Rob & Robyn and kiddos

Rob & Robyn came to town a couple of weeks ago. They finally met baby Landon. I didn't tell Weston and Logan they were coming until the night before. They were very excited! They love to pounce on Uncle Rob the moment he walks in the door.

One Month

My Little Bubba is 1 month old! Well, now he's one month and 2 days, but the pictures are from the 27th. My advice is to not take pictures of your child when he's hungry!

We are doing well, although we need to go to the Dr. because we (Landon and I) have thrush. It's no fun!

I'm still in the process of cleaning out the scrapbook stuff from his room. I still have a lot to do but it's coming along. I have been taking pictures so when it's all done I will post them. We still don't even have a crib.
Logan was looking at Landon the other day and said "Wandon has wittle eyes, wittle feet, wittle nose, wittle ears and wittle clothes!" He said it with so much enthusiasm, plus it rhymed, plus he still can't pronounce his L's. It was cute.

Random Pics of Us (mostly Landon)

Landon is 11 days old today. It's been quite the adjusment having a newborn around with 2 other kids, but it's awesome as well. Everything is going well. He's adored by the boys and they fight over whose turn it is to hold him. Weston adores him so much, he's even willing to have his picture taken and even smile! Daddy loves having another little buddy around to hang out with. I am thrilled to be a mom of 3 boys. The newborn stage can be overwhelming, but I don't want to wish the time away! It goes by fast enough.

We think that Landon looks more like Logan, but he does look like Weston at times also. Then other times, he just looks like himself and nobody else.

4th of July

We had a great 4th. It was the first time the 5 of us went out together. I didn't feel like going anywhere, but still had a nice time! The boys went shopping with Ronnie in the morning just to hang out. Then, they washed the car with daddy. Amber & Kevin and their kids stopped by for a couple hours since Kevin & Davis hadn't met Landon yet. In the evening, we went over to a friend's house. They have a boy Weston's age, plus they had lots of their family over as well. They live on a hill so we could see a ton of fireworks!
Ronnie told me a funny story about washing the car. Weston got upset because he got soap on his arm and Ronnie told him "it's just part of the job, buddy." A few minutes later, Logan got upset because he got soap all over him and Ronnie heard Weston tell him "it's just part of the job, Logan." Too cute.

Visit from Family

Last Thursday, Aunt Shelly, her girls, and Grandma Rosenthal came to visit. It was Ronnie's first day back to work after Landon was born, so they came to visit. Ronnie ended up getting off work early because we were having a lot of lightening and he works with metal- not a good combination!
They put on puppet shows for each other!

This is the day that the Lord has Made!

Friday, June 27th is the day the Lord brought Landon into our lives! It's about time!

Landon Gabriel was born at 10:43 am weighing in at 7 lbs. 7 0z and 20 inches long.

We are home! Adjusting to having a newborn will take time, but it is going well. I don't have many pictures of the day he was born, when I get some, I will post them.

My Own Picture of the Day

I found this picture of Rob & I today while I was unpacking a few boxes. Sitting in the back of our Chevy Nova shucking some corn in Indy. Can't get much better than that, right?
Yes, I'm still pregnant. No, it doesn't seem like he's coming soon. The next person to ask if the baby is here or how I am doing owes me $50. No, I am not bitter that I am still pregnant. ha ha. I know my due date isn't for another 9 days but I am seriously miserable.
I did go shopping at the Joann Craft Superstore today and that made me feel a lot better. I told Ronnie that if I'm ever in a bad mood, he needs to send me there. There were scrapbooking supplies as far as the eye could see. (ok, not really that far, but there was a lot!) It's a good thing I didn't take any money with me.

A Father's Day Treat

I'm not even going to mention that I'm 80 years pregnant and still no baby. Big Sigh. My next appointment is Wednesday so we'll see if any progress has been made from last week's appointment.

Father's Day was really relaxing. It was actually sunny and we spent most of the day playing outside. The boys blew bubbles and played in the sprinkler. They stopped for awhile to have ice cream cones. I didn't have any because I had just eaten a whole (small) box of milk duds.
